Resumo Considerando que a formulação de índices de perigo de incêndios auxilia no planejamento das atividades de prevenção e combate, refletindo de forma antecipada a probabilidade de ocorrência e de propagação dos incêndios florestais, o presente trabalho teve por objetivo realizar o ajuste e validação da Fórmula de Monte Alegre para áreas de cultivo de eucalipto no Estado de São Paulo. Foram utilizados dados de umidade relativa do ar, precipitação pluviométrica e registros de ocorrência de incêndios florestais no período de 11/10/2003 a 29/04/2016. Para a análise, o conjunto de dados foi dividido em duas partes, sendo que as observações entre os anos de 2003 e 2013 (75%) foram utilizadas para o ajuste da FMA, enquanto os dados referentes aos anos de 2014 a 2016 (25%) foram utilizados para validar a nova classificação gerada conforme o estabelecimento dos novos valores limiares de distinção entre a classes de perigo de incêndios. Os resultados demonstraram que o estabelecimento de novos limiares para as definições das classes de perigo proporcionou melhorias na eficiência da Fórmula de Monte Alegre em prever a ocorrência de incêndios na região de estudo.

Abstract Considering that the formulation of fire danger index helps in the planning of prevention and combat activities, revealing, in advance, the probability of occurrence and spread of forest fires. This work aimed to adjust and to validate the Fórmula de Monte Alegre for areas of eucalypt cultivation in the state of São Paulo. Data on relative humidity, rainfall and records of forest fires from 10/11/2003 to 4/29/2016 were used. For the analysis, the data set was divided into two parts, with the observations between years 2003 and 2013 (75%) being used to adjust FMA, while the data referring to the years 2014 to 2016 (25%) were used to validate the new classification generated according to the establishment of the new threshold values of distinction among the fire danger classes. The results showed that the establishment of new thresholds for the definition of the danger classes provided improvements in the efficiency of the Fórmula de Monte Alegre in predicting the occurrence of fires in the study region.

Resumo A definição das zonas de vida de Holdridge é uma ferramenta útil para o planejamento da gestão territorial dos recursos naturais, bem como para subsidiar a elaboração de estratégias e políticas públicas que resultem na definição de áreas prioritárias para conservação e uso sustentável das florestas. Desse modo, o presente estudo teve por objetivo identificar e descrever as zonas de vida que ocorrem no estado do Ceará com base no modelo de Holdridge. Para esse propósito, foram utilizados dados de precipitação anual, biotemperatura e relação de evapotranspiração potencial. Os resultados indicaram que, embora o estado do Ceará esteja majoritariamente sob a influência de um macroclima semiárido, apresenta um espaço geográfico heterogêneo, no qual ocorrem diferentes zonas de vida associadas à diversidade bioclimática. A variável bioclimática mais importante para a classificação das zonas de vida foi a relação de evapotranspiração potencial, que representa a quantidade de água que é transferida para a atmosfera em relação a quantidade de água que é precipitada em determinado local. A classificação climática de Holdridge identificou oito zonas de vida em que todas pertencem à faixa latitudinal tropical e abrangem faixas altitudinais basais (90,04% do território cearense) e premontanas (9,96%), que variam em termos de umidade, desde florestas muito secas até florestas úmidas. A zona de vida mais extensa compreende as áreas de transição entre floresta muito seca e floresta seca tropical basal, ocupando 64.825,69 km2, que recobre 43,54% da área total do estado.

Abstract The Holdridge life zone approach is a useful tool for planning the territorial management of natural resources as well as for supporting the development of strategies and public policies that result in the definition of priority areas for conservation and sustainable use of forests. Thus, in the present study, we aimed to identify and describe the life zones that occur in the state of Ceará based on the Holdridge model. For this purpose, we used data on annual precipitation, biotemperature and potential evapotranspiration ratio. The results indicated that, although the state of Ceará is mostly under the influence of a semi-arid macroclimate, it presents a heterogeneous geographic space, in which different life zones associated with bioclimatic diversity occur. The most important bioclimatic variable for the classification of life zones was the potential evapotranspiration ratio, which represents the amount of water that is transferred to the atmosphere in relation to the amount of water that is precipitated in a given location. The Holdridge climatic classification identified eight life zones, all located in the tropical latitudinal zone and basal (90.04% of the Ceará territory) and premontane (9.96%) altitudinal zones, which vary, in terms of humidity, from very dry forests to humid forests. The most extensive life zone comprises the transition areas between very dry forest and basal tropical dry forest, occupying 64,825.69 km2, which covers 43.54% of the Ceará territory.

ABSTRACT The main aim of this study was to compare the historical profile of forest fires and to elaborate a risk zoning map for the regions of Londrina, Brazil, and Pisa, Italy in the period from 2005 to 2014. The records of fire occurrences were correlated with days of rain and temperature in the study areas. The results showed that 1,435 and 629 fires were recorded in the analyzed period, affecting areas of 3,220.4 and 1,550.8 ha in the regions of Londrina and Pisa, respectively. Data were then spaced in a risk zoning map. Fire occurrences and precipitation presented inverse correlation of 0.76 and 0.81 for Londrina and Pisa, respectively. Temperature showed direct correlation of 0.82 with fire occurrences for Pisa, and inverse correlation of 0.56 for Londrina. The analyzed data may serve as subside for planning fire prevention and combat activities.

RESUMO O clima é a síntese de elementos meteorológicos observados durante um longo período de tempo e possui estreita relação com a vegetação. A classificação climática de Holdridge define zonas de vida representativas para as diferentes regiões da Terra, que refletem a conjuntura destes elementos meteorológicos. Este trabalho objetivou a classificação do estado do Rio Grande do Sul segundo este sistema, visando comparar com a classificação climática de Köppen, bem como as fitogeografias do estado. Com base em uma série histórica não contínua mínima de 25 anos, de 1950 a 1990, de dados pluviométricos e de temperatura, associados às variáveis de latitude e altitude, foi possível calcular e determinar as zonas de vida individualmente para os 496 municípios do estado. Oito zonas de vida foram encontradas, das quais se destacaram: floresta úmida temperada basal (74,0%); floresta muito úmida/floresta úmida temperada basal (13,8%); e floresta úmida/floresta muito úmida temperada basal (8,0%). A relação entre Holdridge e Köppen apresentou correspondência acima de 90% em sete das oito zonas de vida encontradas (87,5% do território do estado), predominantemente com o tipo climático Cfa (clima temperado, com chuva o ano todo e verão quente). Regiões de Estepe e Savana-estépica obtiveram 100% de correspondência com as zonas de vida floresta muito úmida temperada basal e com as respectivas transições com floresta úmida temperada basal. O sistema de zonas de vida de Holdridge mostrou-se uma importante ferramenta para o zoneamento agrossilvicultural do estado, uma vez que houve uma interação satisfatória quando comparado com o sistema de classificação climática de Köppen e com algumas fitogeografias.

ABSTRACT Climate is the synthesis of meteorological elements observed during a long time and it has a close relationship with vegetation. Holdridge climatic classification defines representative life zones by different regions on Earth, which explain all these meteorological elements. Therefore, this study has aimed a classification of Rio Grande do Sul state according to Holdridge life zone system by seeking to compare with Köppen climate classification system and vegetation that occurs in the state. That was possible to calculate and determine the life zones for the 496 cities of the state by a minimal sequence of not continuous 25 years of rain and temperature data from 1950 to 1990. Thereby eight life zones were found for the state, which ones has detached: temperate moist forest (74,0%); temperate wet forest/moist forest (13,8%); temperate moist forest/wet forest (8,0%). Holdridge and Köppen relation has shown correlation above 90% in seven of the eight life zones found (87,5% of the state territory), predominantly with climatic type Cfa (humid subtropical, without dry season, with hot summer). Steppe and Steppe-Savanna regions got correlation of 100% with life zone temperate wet forest and its respective transition zones with temperate moist forest. Holdridge life zones system has shown an important tool for agriculture and forestry zoning in this state once there was a satisfied interaction while comparing with Köppen climate classification system and some phytogeographies.

RESUMO A região da Estepe Gramíneo-Lenhosa no Paraná, também conhecida por Campos Gerais, cobre aproximadamente 20.000 km2 do Estado, compondo uma zona fitogeográfica com vegetação de campos limpos adaptada a ambientes relativamente secos. Apresenta elevado perigo de incêndios, especialmente após o inverno, quando a massa de material morto e as condições meteorológicas favorecem a propagação do fogo. O presente estudo teve por objetivo caracterizar o material combustível fino dessa vegetação. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida na Reserva Particular do Patrimônio Natural (RPPN) Caminho das Tropas, localizada no município de Palmeira - PR. As coletas de material foram feitas em 35 pontos distribuídos em uma área de 25 hectares, sendo realizadas 4 amostragens durante um ano nas estações do outono, inverno, primavera e verão. Foram consideradas 3 classes de material para análise: vivo, morto e miscelânea. A carga média de material fino obtida foi de 10,985 Mg.ha-1 (megagrama por hectare) a qual se encontra dentro da faixa de valores obtidos por diversos autores para a vegetação de campos, que pode variar de 4,90 Mg.ha-1a 13,80 Mg.ha-1. O teor de umidade manteve-se praticamente constante para o material vivo nas 4 estações do ano, enquanto para as demais classes houve variações, sendo mais acentuadas para a estação do verão. Quanto à proporção de material vivo, morto e miscelânea em relação ao total de material coletado em cada estação, o material morto manteve-se estável, enquanto o material vivo e a miscelânea apresentaram diferenças estatísticas significativas. Os resultados obtidos contribuem para o conhecimento do material combustível da região da Estepe no Paraná, sendo subsídio para a avaliação do comportamento do fogo e para a prevenção e combate a eventuais incêndios que venham a ocorrer nessa vegetação.

ABSTRACT The Grassy-Woody Steppe region of Paraná, also known as “Campos Gerais”, covers approximately 20,000 km2 of the state, composing a phytogeographic zone with vegetation adapted to relatively dry environments. It presents high danger of fires, especially after the winter, when the dead fuel accumulation and the meteorological conditions favor the propagation of fire. The present study aimed to characterize the fine fuel material of this vegetation. The research was developed in the Private Natural Heritage Reserve “Caminho das Tropas” (coordinated UTMs 620334 and 7196739), located in Palmeira municipality, Brazil. Fuel collections were done in 35 points distributed in an area of 25 hectares, being carried out 4 samplings during a year in the seasons of autumn, winter, spring and summer. Three classes of fuels were considered for analysis: live fuel, dead fuel and miscellaneous. The average load of thin fuels obtained was 10,985 Mg.ha-1 (megagramm per hectare), which is within the range of values obtained by several authors for field vegetation, which can vary from 4.90 to 13.80 Mg.ha-1. The moisture content remained practically constant for living fuels in the four seasons of the year, while for the other classes the variations were more accentuated in the summer season. For the proportion of live fuel, dead fuel and miscellaneous in relation to the total fuel collected at each season, the dead fuel remained stable while the live fuel and the miscellaneous presented significant statistical differences. The results contribute to the knowledge of the fuel material of the Paraná steppe region, as well as, for the fire behavior evaluation to prevent or control fires that may occur in this vegetation.

RESUMO O registro de ocorrência dos incêndios florestais possibilita o planejamento de atividades de prevenção e combate, minimizando os danos. Os objetivos deste trabalho foram: determinar o número de incêndios atendidos pelas brigadas de incêndios da Klabin, no período de 1965 a 2009; determinar a distribuição temporal dos incêndios; identificar as causas prováveis; e identificar as principais classes de locais afetados. Para isso, foram analisados os registros de ocorrência de incêndios fornecidos pela Klabin, bem como dados meteorológicos do IAPAR para o período analisado. Os resultados permitiram concluir que, no período de 1965 a 2009, foram registrados 2.313 incêndios que atingiram 6.197 ha, com redução da área afetada ao longo do período. Os meses de julho, agosto e setembro apresentaram o maior número de ocorrências, totalizando 1.183 (51,2%) incêndios. As ocorrências estão distribuídas ao longo da semana de forma homogênea, concentradas ao longo do dia das 11 às 18 horas (72,8% do total). As principais causas dos incêndios foram incendiários (54,2%) e queimas para limpeza (16,2%). A vegetação mais suscetível foi o pinus, com 41,3% das ocorrências e 22,5% da área afetada. Apesar de um grande número de ocorrências no eucalipto (22,2%), a área atingida foi menor que a de "outras espécies plantadas" (20,4%) e da capoeira (19,3%). Conclui-se que houve uma melhoria do sistema de proteção, considerando o aumento da área protegida e a diminuição da área afetada pelos incêndios. Ações de prevenção direcionadas aos incendiários e queimas para limpeza, sobretudo nos períodos de maior perigo, são necessárias.

ABSTRACT The records of fire occurrence enables planning for prevention and control, minimizing the damages. The objectives of this study were: determine the number of fires attended by fire brigades of Klabin in the period of 1965 to 2009, determine the fires temporal distribution, identify the probable causes, and identify the main classes of affected vegetation. To do so, records of fire occurrence provided by Klabin, as well as IAPAR meteorological data for the period were analyzed. The results showed that in the period of 1965 to 2009, there were 2,313 occurrences that affected 6,197 ha, with a reduction of the affected area over the period. The months of July, August and September presented the highest number of occurrence, totaling 1,183 (51.2%) fires. The events were uniformly distributed throughout the week, concentrated from 11 to 18 hours (72.8% of total). The main causes of fires were arson (54.2%), followed by cleaning burns (16.2%). The pine was the more susceptible vegetation, with 41.3% of the occurrences and 22.5% of the affected area. Although a large number of events occurred in eucalyptus (22.2%), the affected area was smaller than that "other planted species" (20.4%) and secondary forest (19.3%). In conclusion, there was an improvement of the protection system, considering the increase of the protected area and the decrease in the area affected by fires. Preventive actions directed to arsonists and agricultural burning, especially in periods of danger are needed.

Esta pesquisa foi realizada em plantios de Pinus elliotii localizados na Estação Florestal Experimental de Rio Negro-Paraná, pertencente à Universidade Federal do Paraná com os objetivos de analisar as correlações entre a umidade dos combustíveis florestais finos e os índices de perigo de incêndios FMA e FMA+ e desenvolver modelos para estimar a umidade dos materiais combustíveis baseados nesses índices. As variáveis meteorológicas utilizadas na pesquisa foram obtidas junto à estação meteorológica do Instituto SIMEPAR e de um pluviógrafo e de um termohigrógrafo instalados na área do experimento. Os combustíveis florestais foram coletados em parcelas de 30 cm x 30 cm, classificados por diâmetro (< 0,7 cm Ø - A e de 0,7 a 2,5 cm Ø - B) e em função da posição na manta (camada superficial - AA, intermediária - AB e inferior - AC). A espessura da manta formada pelos combustíveis acamados sobre o piso florestal variou entre 14,8 e 15,3 cm. A quantidade total de material combustível variou entre 3185,50 e 4266,01 g.m-2. Os índices de perigo de incêndios FMA e FMA+ foram calculados diariamente e os valores obtidos nos dias das coletas dos combustíveis foram usados para as análises de correlações e ajustes das funções estimativas. Os coeficientes de correlação entre umidade relativa e classes de combustível foram 0,42; 0,36; 0,32 e 0,41 para o AA, AB, AC, e as classes B, respectivamente. Os coeficientes de correlação entre a precipitação e as classes de combustível foram 0,57; 0,38; 0,34; e 0,15 para o AA, AB, AC e as classes B, respectivamente. Os coeficientes de correlação entre as classes de combustível eo + FMA foram -0,53; -0,56; -0,63; e 0,81 para o B classes, AB, AA, e AC, respectivamente. O + FMA foi a variável mais eficiente no desenvolvimento de modelagem para estimar a umidade de combustível morto. A umidade dos materiais combustíveis finos apresentou correlações estatisticamente significativas com as variáveis umidade relativa do ar e precipitação e com os índices de perigo de incêndios FMA e FMA+. No desenvolvimento dos modelos para a estimativa de umidade dos materiais a variável mais importante observada nos ajustes foi o FMA+.

This research was carried out in a Pinus elliottii plantation, established in 1984, located in the Rio Negro Forest Research Station- Rio Negro - Paraná, owned by the Paraná Federal University, Paraná State , Brazil. The research objectives were to analyze the correlations between the FMA and FMA+ fire danger indices and the fine fuel moisture, and develop mathematical models to estimate the fuel moisture based on these indices. The meteorological variables were obtained from a SIMEPAR weather station, located 50km away, and from a pluviograph and a thermo-hygrograph installed in the study area. The dead forest fuels were collected from 30x30cm plots, between 12 noon and 2:00PM, and classified as: AA - surface layer; AB - intermediate layer; AC - lower layer; and B -woody material with 0.7 to 2.5cm diameter. The total fuel load varied from 3185.50 to 4266.01g.m-2. The fire danger indices were daily calculated and the values obtained in the fuel colleting days were used to calculate the correlations. The correlation coefficients between relative humidity and fuel classes were 0.42; 0.36; 0.32; and 0.41 for the AA, AB, AC, and B classes, respectively. The correlation coefficients between precipitation and fuel classes were 0.57; 0.38; 0.34; and 0.15 for the AA, AB, AC, and B classes, respectively. The correlation coefficients between the fuel classes and the FMA+ were -0.53; -0.56; -0.63; and 0.81 for the classes B, AB, AA, and AC, respectively. The FMA+ was the most efficient variable in modeling development to estimate dead forest fuel moisture.

Neste trabalho, objetivou-se elaborar um mapa de zoneamento de risco de incêndios florestais para o município de Novo Mundo, Mato Grosso. O estudo abrangeu todo o território do município, que está localizado entre as coordenadas 09º09'29"S, 49°58'59"W e 10°29'28"S e 48º55'52"W. Utilizando-se técnicas de Geoprocessamento foram elaborados mapas individuais do risco de incêndios florestais referentes à influência da hidrografia, da rede viária, da declividade do terreno e do uso e cobertura do solo. O risco foi classificado em seis níveis, que variaram de zero a cinco: nulo, baixo, moderado, alto, muito alto e extremo, respectivamente. Posteriormente, os mapas individuais foram sobrepostos por meio da técnica de Overlay, resultando no mapa final de zoneamento do risco de incêndio. Os resultados indicaram que 95% da área do município encontravam-se sob risco alto e muito alto. As variáveis que mais contribuíram para a obtenção desses níveis de risco foram as fronteiras entre estradas e florestas, estradas e áreas de pastagem e pastagens com florestas.

This research mapped forest fire risk for Novo Mundo County, located between the coordinates 09º09'29"S, 49°58'59"W and 10°29'28"S and 48º55'52" W, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. Using Geo-processing techniques individual risk maps for hydrograph, roads, slope and soil use and cover were elaborated. The risks were classified as null, low, high, very high, and extreme level. Afterward, the individual maps were overlaid by Overlay technical, resulting in a final fire risk zoning map. The results showed that 95% of the studied area was under high and very high risks. The variables that most influenced the risk were the boundary areas of vegetation with roads, roads with pasture and pastures and vegetation.

RESUMO Este trabalho foi desenvolvido na Floresta Nacional de Irati localizada, predominantemente, no município de Fernandes Pinheiro, Paraná, com base em dados meteorológicos de precipitação pluviométrica diária, no período de 1963 a 2006. Teve como objetivo analisar os aspectos do comportamento da precipitação, com a finalidade de utilizar esse parâmetro no planejamento de prevenção e combate aos incêndios florestais, em tal unidade de conservação, sobretudo no que diz respeito à definição do período normal de incêndios e sua influência sobre o perigo de incêndios florestais. Foram analisados a precipitação mensal, o número de dias de chuva e a precipitação média por dia de chuva (mm) em termos de seus valores médios, mínimos e máximos, para o período de 1963 a 2005. Posteriormente, esses dados foram agrupados, tendo sido feito um estudo da evolução da precipitação para esses períodos. Foram determinadas e analisadas as variabilidades interanual dos períodos seco e chuvoso, para um período de 44 anos. Observou-se: a) que o período normal de incêndios se concentra nos meses de abril a agosto, período de menor precipitação média mensal; b) um aumento da precipitação anual; c) diminuição no número de dias de chuva por ano; e d) aumento da precipitação média por dia de chuva. Esses aspectos também foram notados quando analisados por períodos, tendo ocorrido o aumento de 128,78 mm na precipitação total anual média; um decréscimo de cerca de 3 dias de chuva e um acréscimo de 0,90 mm de precipitação média por dia de chuva, no período considerado. O início do período das chuvas se concentra nos primeiros 20 dias de setembro (70,5%), tendo sido observado uma equivalência entre os períodos secos e das chuvas em 1968, 1978 e 1997, o que implica em um maior perigo de incêndios florestais.

ABSTRACT This research was developed in the Irati National Forest, located predominantly in the county of Fernandes Pinheiro, Paraná State, Brazil, using daily rainfall data from 1963 to 2006. The objective of the study was to examine the precipitation behavior, an important variable in fire occurrence, to use the information in further work on forest fire prevention and control. It was analyzed the monthly precipitation, the number of days with rain, and average daily precipitation, in terms of means, minimum and maximum values. Afterwards, the data were grouped and an analysis of the precipitation evolution for that period was carried out. It was determined and analyzed the inter annual variability of dry and rainy seasons considering the 44 years. Results showed: a) the normal fire season was concentrated from April to August, a period of lower monthly average precipitation; b) an increase in the annual precipitation along the period being studied; c) a decrease in the number of rainy days per year; and d) an increase in the daily average precipitation. It was observed an increase of 128.78 mm in the total annual precipitation, a decrease of approximately 3 days of rain, and an increase of 0.90 mm of average rainfall per day over the period. The beginning of the rain season is concentrated in the first 20 days of September (70.5%). It was observed equivalence between the dry and rain seasons in 1968, 1978 and 1997, what resulted in a forest fire danger increase.

Abstract The main objective of this study was to characterize the efficiency index of micronutrients in the tree species biomass in a Mixed Araucaria Forest through 20 primary sample plots of 12 m x 12 m. The efficiency index of micronutrients (EIM) between the tree species, like between the up ground biomass components (stem = wood stem + bark; leaves and total = stem + branch + leaves) varied. The species that showed hight EIM for the stem production were the same that show for the woody components production (stem + branches), except for Myrsine ferruginea; Schinus terebinthifolius and Calyptranthes concinna.

Resumo O trabalho aqui apresentado teve como objetivo principal caracterizar o Índice de Eficiência de Micronutrientes (IEM) nos componentes da biomassa acima do solo (DAP ≥ 10,0 cm) das espécies arbóreas da Floresta Ombrófila Mista Montana, General Carneiro/PR, utilizando 20 unidades amostrais primárias de 12 m x 12 m. Houve uma variação dos IEM entre as espécies arbóreas, bem como entre os componentes da biomassa acima do solo (fuste = madeira do fuste + casca; folhas e total = fuste + galhos + folhas). As espécies que apresentaram altos IEM para a produção de fuste foram as mesmas para a produção de componentes lenhosos (fuste + galhos), exceto Myrsine ferruginea; Schinus terebinthifolius e Calyptranthes concinna.
